What Photographing Women Has Taught Me
Photographing women has taught me that being confident and comfortable in your own skin is the most beautiful thing. I have photographed women of all different sizes, races, and occupations. Some with tattoos and some without them. Some with long hair and others with short hair. Some have children and others don't. It shouldn't matter what you physically look like or what your title is, because women who are unapologetically themselves have taught me about the kind of strength and courage that allows you to continue even when life is hard.
It can be so difficult to love ourselves when we feel inadequate, especially in a world that continues to tell us that we are. The lines and circles on our faces that we view as imperfections tell the story of our lives and the obstacles we’ve overcome. I admire women that have reached a place where they genuinely don’t care what people think of them.
I strive to be that kind of woman, but still struggle with being “me” all of the time. After having the privilege of photographing so many amazing women, I’ve been inspired to be braver in my personal and creative journey. I hope to never stop learning.
