6 Apps Every Lady Hustler Needs

It's no secret that I have an obsession with apps. I'm always sending the LH team different apps, ideas, and links to new gadgets. So I have created a list of the 6 apps that have really changed the game for my hustle and I. I hope they change the game for you Lady Hustlers too! --

CASH: Cash by Square Inc. is one of my favorite and most used apps. I use it (for free) to send money to friends for tickets, lunch, etc. We even use it here at LH frequently to pay for giveaways, expenses, etc. I also use a business version of cash to receive payments from clients. It's super easy, and extremely fast. As soon as a payment is made it's in my bank account. One of the most convenient apps I have ever used. My hustle would be incomplete without it.

FOREST: If you feel like you need a timer or some accountability, Forest is the app for you. You set the timer for however long you want to focus on a task, and once it is set, a tree or plant begins to grow. If you leave the app for any reason, the tree dies. And no one wants to be responsible for the death of a virtual tree. I will say, it takes some getting used to. I have killed a few trees in my forest. "OOOO Instagram notifications.. Prettyyyyyyy…," has usually resulted in dead trees. I also love the challenge of creating a full forest. If you want to spend 30 minutes on yoga, or e-mails, reading, or just spend an hour away from your phone, forest can help! It seems silly, but it is a great focus tool.

SLACK: I LOVE SLACK. My friend Dayle told me about slack, and at first I was like what is this mess, and what do all of these buttons do? I literally just took 5 minutes to read instructions and instantly I was hooked. It is a great tool to use if you want to communicate with a team, or even just a person. Think of it as organized iMessage. You can create different sections as hashtags, and you can post in each section, revisit, upload and download, etc. We use it here at LH all the time to communicate with each other about posts, ideas, deadlines, everything. It's a must have!

APPEAR.IN: So my wizard friend, Dayle, basically hooks me up with all amazing apps. Appear.in has changed the game for my business. I often have Skype or Google Hangout meetings with clients, friends, etc. Usually you have to find them on Skype, or wait for them to get on a computer, etc. With Appear.in, you just create a link (i.e. appear.in/thugnanny), and then you share that link with the person or people you want to video chat with. They don't need to download anything, their browser just opens up to the link and BAM, you're video chatting. It's super easy to use on both computer and phone. There is even a chat service integrated into appear.in so you can send links, texts, and notes without having to leave the app. I think my favorite part about this system is that no one has to download anything if they don’t want to.

FANTASTICAL: In our previous app review post, I mentioned we LOVE Sunrise Calendar. Unfortunately, we recently heard that Sunrise Calendar is leaving the market [insert tears here]. So I have been using Fantastical for the past 4 months, and I've grown to love it even more than Sunrise. With external app integrations like Wunderlist, Evernote, Dropbox, etc., it makes it super easy to have control of all of your tasks, appointments, and reminders in one place. The UI (user interface) is great and it's easy to navigate. If you love a good calendar as much as I do, then this is for you.

AIRMAIL: I have used Airmail for my Mac for about 2 years. Just last week I found out Airmail is now available in the app store for the iPhone! If you manage 10 email accounts, or even just one email account, Airmail makes it easy to organize, send, and receive emails. When it comes to email, UI is really important for me. That's the case when it comes to most apps, but especially with email. I stare at it for so long, I need something visually appealing. Airmail is very customizable. You can even make your accounts and labels different colors. It is my favorite mail client to date.

BONUS APP* REFINERY29 'THIS AM': I love this app because it gets you in the know by giving you the top headlines of the morning. I usually browse while I’m waiting for the iron to heat up, brushing my teeth, or making coffee.
